Court Restrains Wike from Selling Disputed Abuja Property

The Abuja High Court has issued an interim injunction barring the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, and other parties from selling a disputed property located at Plot No. 4411, Cadastral Zone A09, Guzape District, Abuja. The court’s order follows a motion filed by Nextdora Nigeria Limited, claiming exclusive possession of the land.

Justice Mohammed Zubairu granted the injunction in response to an ex-parte motion moved by the claimant’s counsel, Reuben Atabo (SAN). The motion, marked M/16807/2024, was presented on Monday, with a certified true copy made available to journalists the following day. The judge emphasized that the order was granted in the interest of justice and fair hearing.

The court ruled that the interim injunction would remain in place until all parties involved in the case are served and present their arguments during a subsequent hearing. Justice Zubairu directed that the defendants, including their agents, servants, or any persons acting on their behalf, are restrained from trespassing on or interfering with the claimant’s possession of the property.

The case has been adjourned to December 30 for a hearing of the substantive suit. In the meantime, the court instructed that the motion on notice be served on the defendants.

Nextdora Nigeria Limited had earlier filed a motion on December 16, suing Eric Anyamene Nnamdi, Bilikisu Mallam, the FCT Minister, and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) as defendants. The company sought four interim orders, all of which were granted, including a directive preventing the sale, development, or transfer of the property to any third party.

In addition, the company filed a writ of summons seeking seven reliefs, including a declaration affirming its title to the property. The legal battle over the land will continue as the court hears arguments from all parties in the coming days.
