Court Remands Three Native Doctors over Alleged Money Rituals in Anambra
Three self-proclaimed native doctors have been remanded in custody by an Anambra State High Court following their arraignment for alleged involvement in criminal activities linked to money rituals and fraud.
The suspects—Chidozie Nwangwu, also known as “Akwa Okuko Tiwara Aki”, Onyebuchi Okocha, popularly called “Onye Eze”, and Ekene Igboezekwe, known as “Eke Hit”—were charged in separate suits (A/41C/2025, A/40C/2025, and A/42C/2025) with offences including conspiracy to commit felony, obtaining by false pretence, and claiming to possess supernatural powers capable of generating wealth or manipulating destinies.
They were arrested in February by the Anambra State Security outfit, Agunechemba, and have remained in detention since then. At the hearing, prosecution counsel F.C. Okeke informed the court that all charges had been duly served and that the state was ready to proceed.
However, defence lawyers led by S.O. Iwuoba contested this, arguing that they had not received the court documents in time to prepare their defence. Consequently, the court did not proceed with a detailed reading of the charges.
Justice Jude Obiora ordered the suspects to be returned to the Agunechemba detention facility for proper administrative processing and adjourned the matter to April 11 for full arraignment and plea-taking.
