Court remands Maina in Kuje prison till end of trial.
The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered that the former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Taskforce Team, Abulrasheed Maina, be remanded in prison, till the end of his trial.
This order was made by Justice Okon Abang following an application by Mohammed Abubakar, the prosecution counsel of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s prosecution counsel.
Maina was produced in court for the first time, consequent upon his extradition from Niger Republic.
You would recall that, Maina is presently standing trial on N2bn money laundering charges.
He had jumped bail and fled to the Republic of Niger, from where he was extradited to Nigeria.
Adaji Abel, the lawyer, who newly took over Maina’s defence after the withdrawal of Ademola Adedipe had appealed to the judge to adjourn the case to enable him prepare adequately for the case.
Adaji’s appeal was granted by the Judge and the trial has been adjourned till December 8.
