Council of State Passes Vote of Confidence on Tinubu, Slams #EndBadGovernance Protesters
President Bola Tinubu received a vote of confidence from the Council of State on Tuesday. The council, which includes former Presidents, past Heads of State, and former Chief Justices of the Federation, convened for the first time since Tinubu’s inauguration.
During the meeting, council members criticized the recent #EndBadGovernance protests. Dele Alake, Minister of Solid Minerals Development, described the protests as having “sinister motives,” suggesting that the sponsors aimed to instigate a change in government. Alake conveyed these sentiments while addressing State House Correspondents about the meeting’s outcome.
Notable attendees included former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari. Former leaders Yakubu Gowon and Abdulsalami Abubakar participated virtually, while ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo was absent from both physical and virtual attendance.
