Competence, Commitment, and the Call for Engr. Eric Anyamene
By Arthur Maduka
Since our last piece on Engr. Eric Nnamdi Anyamene, the responses have been overwhelming. Across Idemili North and South, citizens have been writing in, sending messages, and even sharing their thoughts in local gatherings — all echoing the same refrain: “Ka Engr Eric jelu anyi Abuja” — let him go to Abuja for us.
What is striking is the reasoning behind this call. Ndi Idemili are just tired of political theatrics and failed promises. They are now asking for competence. They have seen a man who, without fanfare, has devoted his personal resources and time to improving their lives through the Eric Nnamdi Anyamene Foundation (ENAF). From free JAMB registrations for hundreds of students to scholarships for outstanding youth, from medical outreaches to palliative distributions, the foundation’s work is visible, structured, and impactful.
People know him not just for what he does, but how he does it. He listens, coordinates, delivers, and follows through. For many, that combination of professionalism, reach, and genuine love for the community is rare — especially when compared to the growing disenchantment with their current Representative. Citizens are saying that experience, capacity, and a results-driven mindset matter more than anything else.
The groundswell of support is significant. It is a grassroots conversation, one not manufactured by social media or political hype. It is born from observation, trust, and lived experience. Ndi Idemili are effectively saying: we have a chance to be represented by someone who understands us, who has networks and reach, and who has already demonstrated the ability to turn ideas into action. We are ready to back him.
Engr. Anyamene has not yet formally declared, but the anticipation and optimism are palpable. If leadership is indeed a reflection of impact and competence, then it seems that Idemili may already have found the representative they want — even before the official race begins.
