Claims of Completed Projects in Abia State are ‘Fictitious’—Businessman Challenges Gov. Otti
Abia State businessman and politician, Emmanuel Egwu, has refuted claims made by Governor Alex Otti regarding the execution of key projects in the state. Egwu stated that many of the projects touted by the Otti administration during its one-and-a-half-year tenure are either exaggerated or non-existent.
Speaking with reporters over the weekend, Egwu criticized the lack of transparency in managing the state’s finances and called on the governor to provide proof of the locations and status of the advertised projects. He challenged the administration to present tangible evidence of its achievements.
“We declare that the projects Governor Otti talks about do not exist in Abia State. We’ve searched for them and have been unable to find any of the supposed multi-billion-naira projects,” Egwu remarked. He further claimed that attempts to verify the existence of these projects using advanced technology, including artificial intelligence, have yielded no results.
Egwu questioned the governor’s claims of reconstructing 108 roads, offering a one million naira reward for anyone who could prove the existence of these projects. “I went on radio stations with a one million naira cheque, asking them to show us the roads. To date, no one has come forward,” he said.
The businessman also raised concerns about the alleged N4 billion spent on recreation centers, stating that what has been delivered instead are mere bus stops. “We were promised parks and recreation centers, but what we see are bus stops. This doesn’t align with the governor’s promises,” he asserted.
Egwu, a taxpayer and stakeholder in the state, demanded greater accountability, urging Governor Otti to disclose the costs of the projects and explain how state funds have been spent. He emphasized the need for clarity on the total expenditure, adding that residents deserve to know where their money is going.
In response to the allegations, the businessman expressed disappointment in the administration, noting that many who supported Otti’s campaign are disillusioned with the current state of affairs.
