CJN Reveals Date for Swearing-In of New Supreme Court Justices
Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Olukayode Ariwoola is poised to swear in the newly-appointed 11 justices of the Supreme Court. The ceremony is scheduled for Monday, and it marks the culmination of a process set in motion after their elevation was confirmed by the National Assembly on December 21, 2023, following President Bola Tinubu’s recommendation.
The appointed justices include Jummai Sankey, Chidiebere Uwa, Chioma Nwosu-Iheme, Haruna Tsammani, Moore Adumein, Obande Ogbuinya, Stephen Adah, Habeeb Abiru, Jamilu Yammama Tukur, Abubakar Sadiq Umar, and Mohammed Baba Idris.
Festus Akande, the Director of Information at the Supreme Court, shared that the oath of office will be administered at 10:00 a.m. in the Main Courtroom of the Supreme Court. With the completion of this swearing-in ceremony, the Supreme Court will have its full complement of 21 justices, in accordance with constitutional provisions.
