Christian Woman Returns Misplaced N1 Million to Muslim Trader in Plateau
A woman in Jos, Plateau State, has returned N1 million that was mistakenly included in goods she bought from a trader at Terminus Market.
The woman, Serah Luca, a petty trader who resides on Laminga Road, said she discovered the money after returning home with the items she had purchased last Friday. According to her, she chose to return the money because it did not belong to her.
Luca explained that her decision was guided by her religious beliefs and personal values, noting that she could not keep money she did not earn.
“I am a petty businesswoman. I understand what it means to lose money. I could not use what is not mine,” she said.
The trader, Abubakar Dola, who deals in polythene bags at Terminus Market, said the money had been set aside for a transaction but was mistakenly packed into the goods sold to Luca.
He explained that the woman had purchased items worth N6,000, unaware that the cash was inside the package. It was only days later that she returned with the full amount.
Dola said he had initially been unable to trace the missing money and had assumed it was lost.
“I did not know how the money got missing. I had already given up hope before she came back to return it,” he said.
He described Luca’s action as rare and expressed appreciation for her honesty, adding that such conduct reflects strong moral character.
