48-Hour Curfew Declared in Jos North After Deadly Shooting

The Plateau State government has imposed a 48-hour curfew in Jos North following a deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba.

The restriction takes effect from midnight on March 29 and will run until April 1, according to a statement issued by the state government in collaboration with security agencies.

The decision comes hours after gunmen opened fire on residents at a gathering spot in the Gari Ya Waye area of Angwan Rukuba, leaving several people dead and others injured. The attack, which occurred on Sunday night, has heightened tension across the local government area.

Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang condemned the incident, describing it as unprovoked, and said efforts are underway to identify and arrest those responsible.

Authorities said security personnel have been deployed to maintain order and enforce the curfew. Residents have been advised to remain indoors, stay alert, and share any information that could support ongoing investigations.

The curfew is expected to remain in place as security agencies assess the situation and work to prevent further violence.
