Chiamaka Nnadozie Wins Best Goalkeeper of the Season Award in French Division 1 Feminine League
Chiamaka Nnadozie, the Super Falcons’ first-choice goalkeeper, has been named the best goalkeeper in the French Division 1 Feminine League for the 2023-2024 season. The announcement came on Monday night, highlighting the Nigerian player’s outstanding performance over the past year.
Nnadozie, 23, has had a remarkable season, gaining a reputation as a penalty specialist. She made headlines by saving seven penalty kicks in the league and the UEFA Women’s Champions League, the most by any goalkeeper in Europe this season. Her incredible skills played a key role in guiding Paris FC to significant victories over top teams like Arsenal and Wolfsburg in dramatic shootouts.
Her heroics also helped Paris FC reach the semi-final stage of the UEFA Women’s Champions League, where they were eventually defeated by Lyon. Despite this setback, Nnadozie’s contributions throughout the season earned her widespread acclaim and this prestigious individual award.
During the award ceremony, Nnadozie expressed her happiness and gratitude, saying, “I’m very happy to have won this award.” Her club’s president, Pierre Ferracci, echoed this sentiment, praising Nnadozie’s exceptional performances, not only in penalty situations but throughout the season. “She is adorable. It is deserved,” Ferracci said, adding that the club would try to keep her despite likely interest from other teams during the summer transfer window.
Paris FC currently sits third in the French Division 1 Feminine League with 42 points, trailing behind their local rivals, Paris Saint-Germain, and the league leaders, Lyon. Despite their position, Nnadozie’s remarkable season and recognition as the best goalkeeper have brought a positive spotlight to the club.
