Cameroonian LGBTQ Activist Bandy Kiki Marries Nigerian Partner Jenny
Cameroonian LGBTQ activist and media personality Bandy Kiki has tied the knot with her Nigerian partner, Jenny. The UK-based activist shared the news on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, with a post stating, “Yesterday, I became Ijaw by marriage.”
Kiki, who publicly came out as gay in 2017, is known for her advocacy for LGBTQ rights, particularly within the African community. She is also the founder of Kinnaka’s Blog, a popular English-speaking news and entertainment platform in Cameroon.
Her marriage to Jenny marks a significant personal milestone and highlights the growing visibility of same-sex unions within African diasporic communities. The Ijaw people, to whom Jenny belongs, are an ethnic group primarily from Nigeria’s Niger Delta region.
While LGBTQ rights remain a contentious issue in many African countries, Kiki has been vocal about challenging discrimination and promoting inclusivity.
