“Call Wike to Order” – ADC Tells Tinubu, Alleges Plot to Destabilize Party in Rivers

The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene over an alleged effort by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to destabilize the party in the state.

In a statement on Tuesday, Chief Leader Sampson, chairman of ADC Rivers, claimed that the party’s structure in Ikwerre Local Government Area—and across the state’s 23 local governments—was under threat.

The statement accused Minister Wike of allegedly working through Ikwerre Local Government Chairman Charles Wobodo, under the supervision of Samuel Nwanosike, to create parallel and unconstitutional party structures. This, the party said, included attempts to impose non-existent local and ward executives and encouraging elected councillors to assume leadership positions unlawfully.

“The ADC views these actions as a direct assault on democratic principles and the constitutional rights of Nigerians to freely associate and participate in politics,” the statement said. “No individual or group should suppress or intimidate others from offering alternative leadership or governance options.”

The party urged President Tinubu to call the FCT Minister to order and called on security agencies to investigate the allegations to prevent any political crisis.

Chief Leader Sampson emphasized that ADC Rivers would defend its legally recognized party structures and remain committed to peaceful, lawful, and democratic political engagement. Party members were also urged to stay calm, law-abiding, and supportive of ADC’s vision of credible leadership and people-centered governance.
