“By God, We Will Remove the President in 2027” – Ex-Tinubu Aide Declares

By Arthur Maduka

Former Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Public Affairs, Aliyu Audu, has publicly declared his intention to actively oppose Tinubu’s bid for a second term in office. Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Monday, Audu confirmed he resigned from the administration in order to pursue what he described as a principled political stance.

Audu cited his disillusionment with the direction of the Tinubu administration, claiming it had veered from its campaign promises and was now prioritising political revenge over national unity. He said his decision to part ways with the government was driven by conscience and a belief in a more inclusive Nigeria. “I would rather face an uncertain future than be certain about an immoral today,” he said.

The former aide criticised what he described as the President’s shift towards political tactics similar to those once used by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, against whom Tinubu had previously positioned himself. He expressed particular concern over Tinubu’s alliance with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, calling it a once justifiable election strategy that had since lost its legitimacy.

Reflecting on the early days of the administration, Audu said the 2023 victory was the result of intense political struggle and belief in Tinubu’s capabilities. However, he accused the President of abandoning the goal of national unity in favour of personal and political vendettas. He warned that the same power tactics once condemned by Tinubu were now being replicated under his leadership.

When asked if Tinubu’s controversial comments about building a one-party state influenced his resignation, Audu said they reinforced his decision and made it morally impossible to continue serving in the administration. “By God, we will remove President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. We will reinstall a leader chosen by the people, not imposed. It won’t be Emi lo kan — it will be Gbogbo wa lo kan,” he declared.
