“Buhari, Tinubu Have Turned Out to Be Colossal Failures” – Former APC Vice-Chairman
In a recent statement, former National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Lukman, expressed deep disappointment over the leadership of both former President Muhammadu Buhari and the incumbent, President Bola Tinubu. Lukman criticized the two leaders, stating that their governments had failed to live up to the high expectations that once surrounded their political promises.
Addressing the political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections, Lukman emphasized that the current government has failed the Nigerian people and suggested that the upcoming election presents an opportunity for change. He called on opposition leaders to unite and work together to challenge the ruling party, which he believes has “ruined the country.”
Lukman argued that despite the expectations from the APC, the party’s leadership had failed to address key issues, such as insecurity, corruption, and economic instability. According to him, the situation in Nigeria has worsened compared to when the APC took power in 2015 under Buhari, with problems escalating under President Tinubu.
He also highlighted a significant weakness in the opposition: the inability of leading figures such as Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Mr. Peter Obi, and Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to set aside their personal ambitions and work collectively to present a united front. Lukman warned that this division only strengthens the Tinubu administration, making it harder to defeat the ruling party in 2027.
Lukman urged opposition leaders to prioritize the nation’s interest over their political goals, warning that continuing with a “business-as-usual” approach would only prolong Nigeria’s current challenges. He stressed the importance of using the democratic system to vote out any government that fails its citizens, firmly stating that both Tinubu and the APC have fallen short in their governance.
“It is quite disheartening that a party which came with all the promises of changing Nigeria for the better has ended up ruining the country,” Lukman lamented, adding that he and many others who initially supported these leaders never anticipated such “colossal failures.”
The former APC vice-chairman concluded by calling for a shift in Nigeria’s political direction, emphasizing that 2027 represents a pivotal moment for the nation to correct its course.
