Buhari nominates APC member and presidential media Aide as INEC commissioner
Major General Muhammadu Buhari rtd. has nominated his Special Assistant on Social Media, Mrs. Lauretta Onochie, for screening and confirmation as a National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), representing Delta State.
Senate President Ahmad Lawan read President Buhari’s letter of request at plenary.
Ms. Onochie is known for her toxicity on social media and is regarded as anti-people.
Her appointment is widely seen as an abberation as INEC is an independent non partisan body and appointing a member of a political party to such a sensitive position is unacceptable.
