Bruno Labbadia Yet to Finalize Super Eagles Contract Despite NFF Announcement
Despite the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announcing that Bruno Labbadia would take over as head coach of the Super Eagles, the German tactician has yet to sign a formal contract with the federation, SK Sports Blog has learned.
The NFF made an official statement on Tuesday, declaring that its Executive Committee had approved the appointment of Labbadia, with the Secretary General, Mohammed Sanusi, stating, “The NFF Executive Committee has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee to appoint Mr. Bruno Labbadia as the Head Coach of the Super Eagles. The appointment is with immediate effect.”
However, it has since come to light that the terms of Labbadia’s contract have not been fully agreed upon. The NFF is working to finalize the deal by Friday or over the weekend, in hopes that Labbadia will be able to lead the team for their upcoming AFCON qualifier against the Republic of Benin on September 7.
Following that match, the Super Eagles are scheduled to face Rwanda three days later as part of the same qualifying series. The federation is keen to have the new coach in place to guide the team through these crucial fixtures.
