Boxer Sentenced to Seven Years for Killing Mother After Drug Overdose
A Northampton Crown Court in the United Kingdom sentenced 21-year-old boxer Finn Henry to seven years and four months in prison for the manslaughter of his mother, Suzanne Henry, 54. The incident occurred on May 1, 2023, when Henry, under the influence of ketamine, fatally attacked his mother at their home in Madeley, Staffordshire.
The court heard that Suzanne Henry was filming her son’s erratic behavior when he attacked her, believing she was a “demon or a devil.” Paramedics who arrived at the scene had difficulty identifying her gender due to the severity of her injuries. She succumbed to her injuries two days later in the hospital.
Henry was apprehended that night on Newcastle Road, Staffordshire, acting suspiciously with blood stains on his clothes. Initially, he was deemed medically unfit for interrogation.
Henry admitted to manslaughter, a plea accepted by the prosecution. The judge, Rupert Mayo, acknowledged the heartfelt tributes from Henry’s sister and father, highlighting the tragedy of the situation. “What makes this so sad and tragic is that I suspect you agree with every word they said. But you took her life,” said Judge Mayo.
The court found that Henry was genuinely remorseful and had taken steps to address his drug addiction. Consequently, he was sentenced to seven years and four months in prison, with an additional four years on extended license.
Detective Inspector Adrian Webb remarked on the profound impact of Suzanne Henry’s death on her family, praising their dignity, resilience, and strength throughout the investigation. “Even though our investigation is complete, my thoughts, and the thoughts of my team that worked with Suzanne’s family, are still very much with them,” Webb stated.
