Boko Haram Strikes Chibok, Leaving Two Dead

In a tragic incident on Tuesday evening, Boko Haram insurgents attacked Chibok in Borno State, claiming the lives of two individuals and causing injuries to others.

The assailants initiated the assault around 7 pm, unleashing rapid gunfire that forced residents into a panicked exodus from their homes. Reports indicate that the terrorists not only engaged in violence but also set homes ablaze and looted essential food supplies.

Local accounts suggest that the death toll might surpass the confirmed two casualties. However, the Borno Police Command assured that a prompt response from a collaborative effort involving the military, police, and local vigilantes successfully repelled the attackers.

Police spokesman Nahum Kenneth stated, “The attack was repelled by the joint effort of the military and the police. Unfortunately, two persons were killed – Mr. Badi, aged 75, and Ngule, aged 45. However, the situation has since returned to normal.”

Chibok gained international attention in April 2014 when Boko Haram targeted the Government Girls Secondary School, leading to the abduction of over 300 students. The recent attack underscores the persistent threat faced by the community despite ongoing efforts to address security concerns.
