Bobrisky Files ₦1 Billion Defamation Suit Against VeryDarkMan
Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has filed a ₦1 billion defamation lawsuit against social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan. The suit arises from a viral audio clip released by VeryDarkMan, in which Bobrisky allegedly claims to have bribed officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with ₦15 million to dismiss money laundering charges against him.
However, Bobrisky has denied the allegations, labeling the audio as an AI-generated fabrication designed to tarnish his reputation. The lawsuit was announced on Sunday via Bobrisky’s Instagram, where he accused VeryDarkMan of exploiting his name for social media fame. Bobrisky claims that the viral content has inflicted significant harm on his public image, brand, and personal life.
In his legal demands, Bobrisky insists that VeryDarkMan retract the defamatory audio and issue a public apology across social media and two national newspapers. He is also seeking ₦1 billion in damages. According to Bobrisky’s legal team, R.T. Omuvwie & Co., failure to meet these demands within 24 hours will result in further legal action.
The statement from Bobrisky’s lawyers asserts that VeryDarkMan has a history of making unsubstantiated claims about Bobrisky, including accusations involving high-ranking police officials and politicians. Bobrisky’s legal team emphasized that these reckless statements disregard his mental health, right to privacy, and other fundamental rights.
Bobrisky’s legal representatives argue that the AI-generated audio is part of a coordinated effort to defame him, and they demand proof of its authenticity. The legal notice warns VeryDarkMan and any collaborators to cease all defamatory activities or face immediate legal consequences.
