Benue Declares Public Holiday as President Tinubu Visits for Condolence Tour
The Benue State Government has declared Wednesday, June 18, 2025, a public holiday in anticipation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s official visit to the state. This visit comes in the wake of recent violent attacks in Benue, which have resulted in significant loss of life. President Tinubu is expected to be in the state for a one-day condolence visit to express solidarity with the government and people of Benue.
According to a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Serumun Deborah Aber, the holiday is aimed at allowing residents to turn out en masse to welcome the President. However, the government noted that workers providing essential services, such as healthcare professionals, security agencies, and banking personnel, are exempt from the holiday directive.
The state government is urging citizens to participate actively in receiving the President and his delegation, describing the visit as both significant and symbolic during a challenging time for the state.
