Bandits Raid Agwara Town in Niger, Police Station, Church Destroyed
Agwara town in Niger State’s Agwara Local Government Area was attacked late Saturday by armed bandits, residents and security sources report.
According to security analyst Bakatsine, who shared details on X Sunday, the attackers moved through the community for several hours, threatening civilians while local security forces responded slowly. Residents say the assailants may still be in the area, prompting concerns about additional violence.
Social media videos show that the bandits set fire to critical public and religious structures. Among the facilities destroyed were the Agwara Police Divisional Headquarters and the First UMCA Church, both torched during an overnight raid that continued into the early hours of Sunday.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement on the incident or confirm casualties.
