Bandits Kill Katsina Miyyeti Allah Chairman, Abduct Family Members4
Alhaji Surajo Ahmed, the Katsina State Chairman of the Miyyeti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), was killed in a violent attack by suspected bandits at his residence in Mai Rana community, Kusada Local Government Area of Katsina State. The attack, which occurred around 10 pm on Sunday, also saw the abduction of Ahmed’s two wives and daughter.
The National President of MACBAN, Alhaji Baba Usman Ngelzarma, confirmed the incident and said the association has reached out to law enforcement and security agencies to investigate the matter and work towards the release of the kidnapped family members.
Efforts to obtain comments from Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the Police Public Relations Officer for Katsina State, were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls or messages.
This incident reflects the persistent security challenges in parts of Nigeria. Last year, a coalition of Fulani groups in Plateau State reported losing 350 members and 834 cows between October 2023 and January 2024. Additionally, over 115 villages were razed, causing massive displacement and destruction of properties worth billions of naira.
