Bandits Impose N60 Million Levy on 12 Zamfara Communities Over Alleged Military Aid
Bandits in the northeastern region of Nigeria have reportedly imposed a N60 million levy on twelve communities in Zamfara State, according to conflict journalist Bakatsine. In a recent post on X, Bakatsine revealed that the affected communities include Koloma, Dan Hayin Zargado, Zargado, Dan Godabe, Sabuwar Tunga, Makini, Bubaka, Yelwa, Bahwada, Koda, Manya, and Kabusu.
The bandits allegedly accuse the communities of aiding military raids and have set the hefty levy as a form of retribution. Residents in these areas are reportedly fearful of violent reprisals if they fail to pay the imposed amount.
