Bandits Abduct Schoolchildren, Staff in Ekiti State

Armed bandits have reportedly kidnapped several pupils, their head teacher, and a driver from Apostolic Faith School in Emure, Ekiti State. The abduction occurred after school hours as the victims were traveling from Emure to Eporo Ekiti on their school bus.

The disturbing incident has sparked panic among residents in the town, who are now urgently appealing to security agencies for protection. The victims’ identities and the circumstances surrounding their abduction add to the growing concern over the security situation in Ekiti State.

Sources reveal that the Ekiti State Police spokesman, Sunday Abutum, is currently unreachable for comment on the situation. This unfortunate event occured against the backdrop of recent killings of two traditional rulers in the state by suspected bandits as earlier reported by SK Blog.

The victims, Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, David Babatunde, and Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Ogunsakin Olushola, fell prey to suspected herdsmen during an ambush on their vehicle. The attack occurred as they were returning from Ogbe, a neighboring town in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State. The assailants struck from a bush between the border communities of Kogi State and Ekiti.

The lifeless bodies of the traditional rulers were discovered on a bush path, prompting combined efforts from security agents and vigilantes to evacuate them. In response to the escalating security challenges, Governor Biodun Oyebanji has issued a directive to the state’s security agencies to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators behind the killings of the traditional rulers.
