Backlash as Singer Portable Says He Will Endorse Whoever Pays Him in 2027 Election

Nigerian singer Portable has sparked controversy after openly stating that he is willing to sell his endorsement in the upcoming 2027 elections.

In a video that has gone viral, Portable first asked his fans if they had collected their voters’ cards before making the startling revelation. He said whoever gives him money will receive his support in the election.

“Anybody wey give me money na who I go follow. Anybody wey fit help our life,” the singer said. He further added in Yoruba, “If APC brings money first, APC owns me. If PDP brings money first, I will collect. Even if it’s Peter Obi that pays first, I’ll tell my fans to follow him; to vote for him.”

Portable defended his stance by explaining that he cannot support anyone while struggling to make ends meet. “Vote for anybody wey you like, vote for your helper, vote for who give you money,” he concluded.

His comments have generated significant backlash, with critics arguing that, as a public figure, he should set a better example and not reduce political participation to monetary transactions.
