The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has introduced a requirement that anyone seeking to join the party from another political platform must first present proof of resignation from their former party.

Kaduna State Chairman, Modecai Ibrahim, disclosed this at the party’s first expanded stakeholders’ meeting in Kaduna, North-West Nigeria. The session brought together officials from ward, local government, and state levels, along with aspirants and supporters, as the party begins early groundwork for the 2027 elections.

Ibrahim said the policy is intended to enforce order in membership admission and ensure that all entries into the party follow documented procedures. He stressed that individuals moving from other parties would not be recognised unless they can confirm their formal exit from their previous affiliations.

The meeting also served as a platform for internal coordination and mobilisation as the party outlines its organisational direction ahead of the next election cycle.

NDC State Legal Adviser, Ben Churchill, urged members and aspirants to maintain peaceful conduct and ensure that all political activities remain within legal boundaries.

Party officials described the gathering as the start of broader consultations aimed at strengthening structures and expanding grassroots engagement nationwide.
