Operatives of the Command Anti-Vice Squad (CAVS), Sector 2, Ughelli, have rescued a three-year-old girl and arrested a commercial motorcyclist identified as Kelvin Ogaga over her alleged abduction.

According to police authorities, the case was reported on May 18 by the child’s father, who stated that the suspect had been responsible for transporting his daughter to school on a daily basis before she went missing.

Investigations indicated that the suspect allegedly abducted the child and later contacted the family, demanding a ransom of ₦500,000 for her release. The family reportedly paid the amount after negotiations to secure the child’s freedom.

Acting on intelligence, operatives traced and raided the suspect’s hideout in Ughelli, where he was arrested. The child was also recovered during the operation.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest and said ₦127,000 was recovered from the suspect. He added that the money is believed to be part of the ransom, alongside other items allegedly acquired through the proceeds of the crime, as well as the motorcycle used in the operation.

The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
