Mike Bamiloye, founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries, has defended the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, against criticism over his perceived silence on Nigeria’s security challenges.

In a post shared on Instagram, Bamiloye said it was unreasonable to expect the 84-year-old cleric to personally lead protests against the government over insecurity across the country.

According to him, Adeboye has repeatedly spoken against violence and insecurity, but his comments often receive little attention from bloggers and critics.

Bamiloye also rejected calls for the RCCG leader to participate in anti-government demonstrations, arguing that such expectations neither reflect his age nor his spiritual responsibilities.

The debate resurfaced after a photograph circulated online claiming to show Adeboye leading a protest. However, RCCG clarified that the image was taken during a nationwide anti-killings walk held in February 2020 under the directive of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) during the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Bamiloye explained that Adeboye’s participation in the march was in compliance with directives from CAN and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), adding that churches across the country joined the coordinated action to protest insecurity.

He maintained that the church’s primary role is to pray for the nation and seek divine intervention in governance and national affairs.
