Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has reportedly emerged as a leading candidate for the vacant Algeria national team coaching position.

According to multiple reports in Algeria, the former Mali coach is among the top names being considered following the dismissal of Vladimir Petkovic.

Petkovic was relieved of his duties after Algeria's disappointing exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where they were eliminated in the Round of 32.

This is not the first time Chelle has been linked with the Algeria job. He was also mentioned as a potential candidate during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Despite the renewed speculation, Chelle recently committed his future to Nigeria. The National Sports Commission (NSC) announced that the 47-year-old has agreed to a new contract that will keep him in charge of the Super Eagles until 2030.
