Nigerian Army troops have repelled a fresh terrorist attack on a forward operating base in Moriki, Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, with three civilians injured during the incident.

According to security sources quoted by counter-insurgency publication Zagazola Makama, the attackers launched the assault at about 1:00 a.m. on Friday, approaching the military base from multiple directions.

The troops reportedly held their positions and repelled the attackers after an exchange of gunfire.

Three civilians sustained gunshot wounds during the attack and were evacuated to a hospital for treatment. Security sources said the situation has been brought under control, with additional security personnel deployed to strengthen the area against further attacks.

The latest incident comes less than 24 hours after troops foiled another attempted terrorist attack on a military base in Gwashi, Bukuyyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

In that attack, which occurred on Thursday, suspected terrorists reportedly attempted to infiltrate the military position but were forced to retreat after troops engaged them in a gun battle.
