APGA in Disarray Over Soludo’s Transition Chairmen List

The ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) faces internal turmoil following Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s release of a list of transition committee chairmen for the state’s 21 local government areas.

Party members have voiced strong opposition, accusing Soludo of appointing his cronies, in-laws, and close associates, while sidelining core party members. A high-ranking APGA official, speaking on condition of anonymity, criticized the governor’s consistent pattern of such appointments since taking office.

The opposition parties, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), have also expressed their discontent. Chief George Okoye, a former presidential aspirant for APGA and ex-lawmaker in Njikoka Local Government Area, condemned the appointments as “impunity.” He emphasized that many supporters feel let down by Soludo’s move, which contradicts his earlier commitment to local government elections.

“We demand an explanation from the governor for appointing transition committee chairmen instead of holding elections,” Okoye stated. “We urge all stakeholders to join in protesting for democratic governance at the local government level.”
