APGA Crisis: Njoku Warns Soludo, Others, Says Time for Peace is Running Out

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Edozie Njoku, has issued a stern warning to the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, urging him and his allies to embrace peace before time runs out. Njoku made this statement during a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, signaling his growing impatience amid the ongoing leadership crisis within the party.

Despite multiple court rulings affirming Njoku’s position as the rightful National Chairman of APGA, internal disputes have persisted. The APGA faction led by Sylvester Ezeokenwa recently approached the Court of Appeal, seeking a stay of execution on a judgement that mandated the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize Njoku as the party’s chairman. However, the appeal was dismissed by the court, reaffirming Njoku’s leadership.

During the press conference, Njoku criticized Soludo and his supporters for attempting to undermine his leadership. He stated that they had created a misleading narrative in the media, claiming that fresh evidence would lead to his removal. “They went on various media channels to suggest there was something wrong with the clear judgment passed by the Court of Appeal,” Njoku said, accusing them of spreading misinformation.

Njoku also expressed frustration over their efforts to delay his recognition by INEC, describing their actions as fraudulent. He noted that while they have the right to appeal to the Supreme Court, their attempts to halt the Court of Appeal’s ruling have been baseless. “The Supreme Court has been clear, and the lower courts have enforced the judgment. Yet, they continue to create tension and push our party backwards,” Njoku added.

He further emphasized that his removal as APGA National Chairman is impossible under the law, as his election during the Owerri convention remains valid. “Before they can remove me, they must disprove the fact that I was elected chairman at the Owerri convention,” he asserted.

Njoku concluded by reaffirming his position and calling on Soludo and others to make a decision for peace, warning that time is running out.
