APC Welcomes Okowa, Oborevwori to the Party, Promises Full Support
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has officially welcomed Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State and former governor and PDP vice-presidential candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa, into the ruling party. In a statement signed by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the party expressed enthusiasm over the high-profile defections and assured the new members of its full support and cooperation.
Ganduje described the move as a significant development for the APC, noting that the addition of Okowa, Oborevwori, and other political figures from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) marks a pivotal moment for Delta State. Alongside the two prominent leaders, senior state officials, House of Assembly members, local government chairmen, and numerous PDP members have also joined the APC.
Morka stated that with these defections, Delta State now stands aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, promising that the APC is ready to accommodate the new members and work with them to achieve prosperity for the people of Delta and Nigeria at large.
Okowa, who made his defection known after a meeting at the Delta State Government House in Asaba, affirmed that his decision was deliberate and in the best interest of the people. “Be assured that we will not go in the wrong direction. We will take the best direction, the best path for our people,” he said.
Governor Oborevwori also confirmed his defection after a meeting with PDP leaders and stakeholders in the state, signaling a major shift in the political landscape of Delta.
