The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has passed a vote of confidence on its embattled national chairman, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole.
The party also set up a five-man disciplinary panel headed by a former governor of Ekiti state, Niyi Adebayo to investigate allegations level against Oshiomhole by its Deputy national chairman, North, Lawal Shaibu.
In a statement issued by the party’s national publicity secretary, Mr. Lanre Issa-Onilu after its 38th regular meeting of the NWC held in Abuja on Thursday,the panel is expected to submit its report within seven days.
“The meeting of the National Working Committee at its 38th regular meeting held on 27th May, 28th May 2019 and 6th June, 2019, considered several issues, among which was the state of the party.
“After extensive deliberation, the NWC resolved as follows: to pass a vote of confidence on the National Chairman, Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole “To set up a five-man disciplinary committee headed by Otunba Niyi Adebayo to investigate the following: the allegation levelled by Senator Lawal Shuaibu against the National Chairman on issues involving the collective decisions of the National Working Committee” the statement said.
Shuaibu, in a six-page letter dated May 27 and addressed to Oshiomhole, accused the chairman of incompetence, high handedness and immaturity in his handling of the affairs of the party.
He noted that the APC had lost control of seven states under Oshiomhole and called on him to resign
