“Anything You See, Take It” – Wike Warns APC National Secretary Against Meddling in Rivers State
Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has issued a stern warning to All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretary Ajibola Basiru, urging him to refrain from intervening in Rivers State affairs.
Speaking at a rally in Oyigbo, Rivers State, Wike accused Basiru of overstepping his bounds. He warned that any attempts to influence the state’s politics would have consequences.
“Let me tell the National Secretary of the APC, leave Rivers State alone. You are putting your mouth into what does not concern you,” Wike said, referencing the state’s finances. He added that the state’s support for President Bola Tinubu should not be taken for granted.
Wike also indicated that the President would be informed of the situation, saying, “When Mr. President comes back… he can ask other people what has happened before. Anything Rivers State, carry your hand.”
The remarks come after Basiru criticized an APC official who referred to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara as a “so-called governor.” Basiru emphasized the importance of respecting elected offices regardless of political differences.
Earlier, Basiru led APC National Executive Committee members in publicly endorsing Fubara for a second term, but Wike has pledged to oppose his re-election.
