#AnambraDecides: Soludo Extends Dominance, Wins 19 LGAs as INEC Collates Results

The governorship election in Anambra State has tilted heavily in favor of the All Progressives Grand Alliance candidate, Chukwuma Soludo, who has taken a decisive lead in 19 local government areas so far announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Collation of results continued on Sunday at INEC’s state headquarters in Awka, where figures from most of the 21 LGAs have been received and verified. Preliminary results indicate that APGA has garnered 389,789 votes, far ahead of the All Progressives Congress with 91,592 votes. The Labour Party follows with 10,366 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party trails with 1,230.

With two local governments yet to be declared, Soludo appears set for a comfortable return as governor, extending his party’s stronghold in the state. The ongoing collation exercise, supervised by the State Returning Officer, is expected to conclude once all results are announced.

So far, APGA has maintained clear margins across the LGAs declared, including major wins in Aguata (35,559 votes), Awka South (27,896), Idemili North (25,498), Orumba North (24,664), and Onitsha North (24,225). Other notable victories include Njikoka, Dunukofia, Oyi, Nnewi North and South, and Awka North, where Soludo’s support remained consistent.

Below is the summary of results from the 19 LGAs released so far:

APGA: 389,789

APC: 91,592

LP: 10,366

PDP: 1,230

Collation is expected to continue through the night, with the final declaration anticipated once all 21 local government results are confirmed at the Awka centre.
