Anambra Teacher Who Flogged Pupil to Death Remanded in Prison

A primary school teacher from Landmark International School in Mgbakwu, Awka North Local Government Area, has been remanded in a correctional centre for flogging her eight-year-old pupil to death. The teacher, Mrs. Faith Nwoye, faced the Special Court for women and children-related matters following the tragic incident.

The case was brought to court after Mr. Ojiakor Okonkwo filed a petition with the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, against the school’s proprietor, Mrs. Promise Iloh, and Mrs. Nwoye. The petition detailed the brutal treatment of young Henry Chukwuemeka Okonkwo, who later succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities, including the Commissioner for Education, directed an immediate closure of Landmark International School, citing its illegal operations. The case has been handed over to the police for a thorough investigation.

Prof. Chuma-Udeh emphasized that once the police conclude their investigation, Mrs. Nwoye will face further legal actions to ensure justice is served. “She is going to have the full wrath of the law brought upon her over her actions,” stated the Commissioner.
