Anambra State Government Reacts to Nibo Cult Killings, Vows to Track Down Perpetrators

 

 

Following the tragic cult-related violence in Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area, that left over 15 people feared dead, the Anambra State Government has vowed to track down the perpetrators. In a press statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, PhD, the government expressed deep sympathy for the families of the victims and pledged to ensure justice.

 

The incident, which occurred on Sunday during the Nibo Onwa Asaa festival, has been described by the government as part of a troubling trend of cult-related violence. The exact number of casualties has yet to be confirmed, though it is reported to exceed 15.

 

“The government sympathizes with the families of the deceased and assures them that the state will get to the root of this incident and bring the perpetrators to justice,” the statement read. It further called on the public to assist with any information that could lead to arrests, offering a handsome reward for useful tips while ensuring confidentiality.

 

The Anambra State Government also urged residents to go about their daily activities without fear, assuring them that security forces are actively working to resolve the situation. Hotlines will soon be made available for citizens to relay any relevant information.
