Anambra Police Rescue Teen Boy Kidnapped from Imo
The Anambra State Police Command has successfully rescued a 13-year-old boy, Anayo Stephen, who was reportedly kidnapped in Imo State and found in Anambra State.
According to a press statement from the police, on August 9, 2025, around 3:00 p.m., Anayo was on his way to fetch grass for goats in his community, Ubaha-Akparu in Imo State, when four young men in a Hilux vehicle stopped him. The men initially asked for directions but subsequently abducted the boy and took him to an undisclosed location.
While his captors were asleep in a bush, Anayo seized the opportunity to escape. During his attempt to find help, he encountered vigilante operatives at Ideani Junction in Anambra State and narrated his ordeal to them.
The boy is fluent in both Igbo and English, and his safe recovery has been confirmed by the police. The Anambra State Police Command is appealing to the media and the public to help share his picture to aid in identifying and reuniting him with his family.
The police have reassured the public of their continued commitment to security and urged anyone with information about the case or the boy’s family to come forward.
