Anambra: Police Rescue Man from Mob Violence After Alleged Murder and Concealment of Body in Refrigerator
The Anambra State Police Command has rescued a man from mob violence after he was accused of murdering a 25-year-old man and hiding the victim’s dismembered body in a refrigerator at Okpoko.
The suspect, identified as Leberechi, approximately 30 years old, was found unconscious at the time of arrest. He was immediately taken to a hospital for medical attention and is currently under armed police guard to prevent any attempt to escape.
Police operatives visited the scene and recovered the decomposed body parts, which were subsequently transferred to a mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
According to a statement signed by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, PhD, MNIPS, has directed that the case be immediately transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka, for a thorough investigation to ensure that justice is served in accordance with the law.
