Anambra Police Recover Firearms and Suspected Stolen Cash in Abagana Operation
Operatives of the Anambra State Commissioner of Police (CP) Special Patrol have recovered firearms, suspected stolen cash, and other incriminating items during a security operation in Abagana earlier today, according to a statement by SP Ikenga Tochukwu, Police Public Relations Officer.
The statement said the recovery occurred at approximately 5:00 p.m., following a high-speed pursuit that ended when suspects abandoned their vehicle after an accident. Among the items seized were a pump-action rifle, a locally fabricated single-barreled rifle, an ash-colored Toyota Highlander with registration number UWN 680 PE, and cash suspected to total Six Hundred and Thirty-Six Thousand, Seven Hundred Naira (₦636,700).
SP Tochukwu noted that the suspects remain at large, but intelligence-led operations have been intensified to ensure their arrest. The recovered items are being processed as evidence, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
The Anambra State Police Command reassured residents that it remains committed to proactive security measures, maintaining law and order, and safeguarding lives and property. Further updates on the operation will be provided as developments occur.
