Anambra Police Foil Kidnap Attempt, Rescue Victim, and Recover Vehicle

In a commendable display of swift action and technological prowess, the Anambra State Police successfully thwarted a kidnapping attempt in Aguata, rescuing the victim and recovering his vehicle. This operation is part of the enhanced anti-crime strategy led by Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, designed to tackle criminal activities in the state.

The incident occurred around 4:30 pm on May 22, 2024, when police received a report of an abduction along Umuchiana village, Ekwulobia, in Aguata LGA. Responding promptly, the police pursued the kidnappers, who eventually forced the victim out of his sky blue Toyota Camry at Ndike village in Orumba North LGA.

The chase continued, leading the criminals to abandon the vehicle along Umunze road in Orumba South LGA before fleeing into a nearby bush. Police operations are ongoing to apprehend the suspects.

The rescued victim has been debriefed and safely reunited with his family.

Commissioner of Police Nnaghe Obono Itam praised the officers’ bravery and assured the public that the police, alongside other security agencies, are committed to preventing criminal activities and ensuring the safety of all residents in Anambra State.
