Anambra Police Foil Armed Gang Attack: One Killed, Three Apprehended
Officers from the Anambra State Police Command successfully dismantled a four-member armed gang in Igboukwu, Aguata LGA.
The gang, traveling in a commercial bus from Nnewi on Sunday, January 14, 2024, was intercepted at a police checkpoint. During a routine search, one of the criminals exited the vehicle, brandishing a Barreta pistol, leading to swift action by the police resulting in his neutralization.
A subsequent examination of the gang’s belongings uncovered a concealed dagger, further highlighting the potential threat they posed.
Commending the vigilance of the police personnel, Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident. Additionally, he ordered the immediate release of two elderly passengers who had boarded the bus at a different location.
In a statement, DSP Tochi Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Police Command, affirmed the commitment of the police force to safeguarding the lives and property of law-abiding citizens in the state.
