Anambra Police Break Supply Network, Arrest Two Linked to Killings and Kidnappings
Police in Anambra State have arrested two men accused of supplying food and other essential items to an armed group linked to recent killings and kidnappings across the state.
In a statement issued Friday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, said the arrests followed a coordinated operation by the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, and the Agunechemba Unit. Acting on intelligence, operatives raided a hideout near Orsumoghu and Aguluezechukwu in the early hours of December 11, taking the suspects—28-year-old Mmadubuchi Ike and 34-year-old Chinonso Izunobi—into custody.
Police said the men are tied to the killing of a youth leader known as Biggy in Ukpor and are also linked to multiple kidnapping cases statewide. Recovered items include a Type 06 rifle with ten rounds of live ammunition, two pump-action guns, and twenty live cartridges.
Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu said investigations are continuing as the command works to track down other members of the network believed to still be at large. He assured residents of strengthened security measures throughout the festive season.
