Anambra Police Arrest Suspected Secessionist Member in Ozubulu Following Escape from Camp
The Anambra State Police Command, in collaboration with the Ozubulu Central Vigilante, has arrested a suspected member of a banned secessionist group in Amakwa, Ozubulu. The arrest was made on the evening of 30th November 2025 during intensified patrols across the state.
The suspect, identified as Emmanuel Osuigwe, was reportedly acting suspiciously and attempted to evade the joint patrol team. A search revealed a handcuff on him and a wound consistent with its use.
During preliminary questioning, Osuigwe allegedly admitted to being part of the proscribed group and said he had recently escaped from a camp in Ukpor following a disagreement with other members.
Commenting on the arrest, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, said, “This arrest is a testament to the effectiveness of our strengthened patrols and security operations. We remain committed to maintaining peace and public safety across Anambra State.”
Osuigwe is currently in police custody, and further interrogations are ongoing. Authorities have noted that information provided by the suspect is already aiding ongoing investigations.
The Anambra State Police Command assured residents that it will continue its efforts to safeguard communities and prevent criminal activities.
