Anambra Police Arrest Notorious Armed Robber Linked to High-Profile Murder
In a major development in the fight against violent crime, the Anambra State Police, through the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Awkuzu, has arrested a heavily injured armed robber in Ogbaru Local Government Area.
According to a statement released by SP Ikenga Tochukwu, Police Public Relations Officer, the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Ugochukwu Uzor, has a long history of violent criminal activities. He was apprehended in Iyowa Odekpe following a confrontation with police operatives. During the operation, officers recovered a locally made Beretta pistol along with eleven rounds of live ammunition.
SP Tochukwu described Uzor as “a dangerous criminal whose activities have terrorized communities across Anambra and neighboring states.” He also noted that the suspect bears a prominent tattoo with the inscriptions “No Forgiveness” and “No Mercy,” highlighting his hardened criminal mindset.
According to the statement, Uzor confessed to leading multiple criminal gangs and admitted involvement in the abduction and murder of Hon. Azuka Justice, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, on December 24, 2024. SP Tochukwu emphasized, “This arrest represents a significant breakthrough in our efforts to dismantle violent criminal networks in the state and bring perpetrators of heinous crimes to justice.”
The Police Command has urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement. SP Tochukwu added, “Members of the public with information about criminal activities are encouraged to report to our Control Room at 07039194332 or contact the Police Public Relations Officer at 08039334002.
