Anambra Police Arrest Eight in Enugwu-Ukwu Black Spot Raid, Recover Suspected Drugs

 

Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested eight suspects during a raid on a location identified as a criminal black spot in Eze-Allah, Enugwu-Ukwu, in Njikoka Local Government Area.

 

The operation, carried out on the evening of April 16 by officers attached to the Special Anti-Cult Unit, Enugwu-Ukwu, followed intelligence reports linking the area to cult-related activities, according to the police.

 

Police said the raid led to the arrest of eight male suspects and the recovery of quantities of suspected Cannabis Sativa and other illicit substances.

 

The suspects were identified as Chidalu Nwafor, 27; Chiemerie Nwazueje, 24; Chima Arwuike, 25; Jideobi Emeka, 26; Oliver Okonkwo, 18; Izuchukwu Christian, 18; Onyebuchi, 21; and Walter Idouzour, 44.

 

Police said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and address the role of illicit drug use in cult violence and other crimes, particularly among youths.

 

According to the command, the suspects are undergoing profiling and investigation and will be charged in court upon conclusion of the process.

 

Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga said the command remains committed to sustained operations against criminal elements across the state and urged continued community cooperation in tackling insecurity and drug-related offences.
