Anambra: Ozigbo Critiques Soludo’s Two-Year Tenure, Announces 2025 Governorship Bid

In an interactive session with journalists in Awka on Saturday, former gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State’s 2021 elections, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, voiced his assessment of Governor Charles Soludo’s two-year administration, deeming it unimpressive.

Ozigbo, who had refrained from immediate judgment, chose to evaluate Soludo’s performance over two years before considering his own political ambitions. Expressing his dissatisfaction with Soludo’s achievements, Ozigbo declared his intention to contest the 2025 gubernatorial election in the state.

“I waited to assess Soludo after two years, and having seen it, I’m not impressed,” Ozigbo remarked, highlighting his motivation to hold the incumbent governor accountable.

Citing observations from across the state’s 21 local government areas, Ozigbo noted discontent among Anambra residents towards Soludo’s administration. He emphasized his readiness to contest for a single term, aligning with the zoning arrangement favoring the southern senatorial zone, from which both he and Soludo hail.

Asserting his capability to lead Anambra effectively, Ozigbo revealed his intention to vie for the Labour Party’s gubernatorial candidacy in 2025. He underscored the importance of prioritizing the state’s development and vowed to uphold the zoning principle while advocating for competency in leadership selection.

Addressing concerns on the tenure length, Ozigbo advocated for a single four-year term, drawing parallels with achievements in neighboring states. He emphasized his commitment to honoring the zoning agreement, echoing sentiments expressed by former governor Peter Obi for a one-term tenure for a southerner.

Ozigbo concluded by rallying support for his “rescue mission agenda” aimed at revitalizing Anambra’s progress and urged stakeholders to back his endeavor for the state’s prosperity.
