Anambra Guber: “Moghalu’s LP Ticket Is Tissue Paper” — ADC Deputy Candidate
The deputy governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Anambra State, Dr. Ndubuisi Nwobu, has taken a swipe at the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate, Dr. George Moghalu, describing his candidacy as “mere tissue paper.”
Nwobu made the remarks while fielding questions from journalists on why former governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, is backing Moghalu instead of John Nwosu of the ADC.
“From all indications, Peter Obi is campaigning for George Moghalu. But is that one a candidate? Does he even have a ticket? The so-called primary that produced him was conducted by Abure, despite the Supreme Court ruling—delivered a day before—that the party had no valid leadership. You cannot stand something on nothing,” Nwobu said.
He accused Moghalu of “creating further confusion” in the political space by campaigning on what he described as a non-existent mandate. “He knows that is not a ticket. He is not a candidate,” Nwobu insisted.
On why some prominent figures in the ADC coalition are yet to be visible in the party’s campaign, Nwobu explained that logistics and scheduling challenges have made it difficult to carry all stakeholders along on local campaign tours.
“We have held our flag-off and have been actively campaigning. But it may not be convenient to take our stakeholders along on every outing, especially for local government tours, given their busy schedules,” he said.
Nwobu assured that the party’s coalition leaders would be present during the grand finale of the ADC campaign. “When we round off, you will see all the big names you are asking about,” he added.
