Anambra Government Orders Academic Activities to End by 2:30 p.m., Cites Reason for Decision
In a bid to prioritize the well-being of schoolchildren, the Anambra State government has announced the adoption of the United Nations (UN) guidelines, mandating schools to conclude academic activities by 2:30 p.m. daily.
The Commissioner for Education in Anambra State, Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, unveiled this decision in a statement released on Monday in Awka.
Ms. Chuma-Udeh emphasized that this move is aligned with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision to ensure that children have sufficient rest and quality time with their families.
“The adoption of the UN recommendations underscores Governor Soludo’s commitment to ensuring that schoolchildren enjoy ample rest and meaningful interaction with their parents,” she stated.
She further urged all school administrators across the state to strictly comply with this directive, ensuring the prompt conclusion of academic activities by 2:30 p.m. daily.
This adjustment in school hours aims to guarantee that students are safely back home by 3:00 p.m., fostering a conducive environment for familial engagement and relaxation.
Is very good,but my problem is that the schools (private)are still tasking us for extra lesson fees.. please my governor I will love you to also look into it…
